Lone Male On Tour

I love to travel and nothing beats the food that you experience on your travels. From the Moroccan delights of the Djemaa el Fna food stalls to whisky tasting in the Scottish highlands. I'm a real sucker for good local food and drink so here's some of my favourite gastro-tourism journeys.

The food stalls on the Djemaa el Fna offer a unique dining experience. Tourists mingle with locals in an extremely social dining experience. Selections of amazing tagines and tender meat to satisfy the caveman in us all. Washed down with a cup of mint tea.
There is a sense of anarchy at first glance in Marrakesh which westerners will initially struggle to understand but the bombardment on the senses has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime.

If you're brave chance the sheep's heads or snails in garlic butter.

One of my other passions when it comes to travel is whisky- I can't think of anything better than a long weekend trip up to Scotland involving a whisky distillery visit, especially if it's something I haven't tried before. I've been lucky to visit some fantastic distilleries across Scotland.

One of my favourite trips was to the Tullibardine Distillery which is based in Blackford between Stirling and Perth and has great road links up to the Cairngorms. Recently acquired by Picard, the distillery produces a fantastic easy-drinking whisky.

A visit to Tullibardine Distillery is well recommended.
