One of my guilty pleasures when I'm out shopping is good coffee. When I bought my first home the first thing I ordered was an Espresso Coffee Machine. Family thought I was mad an it would simply end up not being used but I think they misjudged just how much I love a good coffee so coffees like Segafredo Zanetti's Espresso Classico are my cup of tea!

Having just booked a trip to Sardinia, one the things I'm really looking forward to is getting a good espresso coffee so what better to review than some Italian espresso coffee.

Segafredo Zanetti Espresso Classico Coffee

On a recent trip to Tesco, whilst meandering down the coffee section in search of some more espresso coffee I spotted what appeared to be a new brand on special offer: Segafredo Espresso Classico. I've seen signs for Segafredo coffee when I've been out before but don't believe I've had the pleasure of tasting it so I thought it was worth trying. The price said £4.99 reduced to £3.49 and considering Lavazza Espresso was £3.69 anyway so it seemed worth a try especially considering it comes in a very nice looking jar I will be able to re-use too.

The jar comes with a handy no-piercing required pull for ease of getting into the coffee without it ending up wasted over your work surfaces.

When tested in a double espresso the taste was smooth and rounded. Segafredo Espresso Classico is one classy tasting coffee. It has a volume and strength to it which feels tempered by it's smoothness to create a wonderfully easy to drink espresso.

I'm off to Tesco now for another tin while it's still on special offer.

Turkish Pide Pizza, Istanbul Restaurant Leicester

A recent trip out to a friends barbecue was a great night although with a big appetite like mine there was always going to be the possibility that I'd be left feeling hungry at the end of the evening. A great night was had by all but why does drinking always give you an extreme late night hunger?

We were partying around Leicester's West End around the end of Narborough road in probably one of the UK's most multicultural areas and after stumbling out of the awesome Fubar we headed a short walk down the street looking for somewhere to grab a snack.

Stumbling past Leicester's Istanbul Restaurant on Narborough Road we saw a great looking fridge full of fresh food and some great looking skewers of meat and as there were plenty of people also eating in there, we decided to take the plunge.

I have to admit that we were the only people likely to be of non-Turkish decent within the restaurant. Yet the fact there were plenty of people sat down eating was a good sign of great food. And what we encountered was very, very good.

We plumped for a Turkish Pide Pizza between us. I tried them previously on a trip to Kas, a small fishing village that has developed into a Turkish Mecca for adventure tourism whilst still maintaining a village feeling that I'd like to think resembles the real Turkey and not that of the sprawling hotels of Marmaris and Bodrum with the hassling sellers almost forcing you into their shops and thus putting people off a return to Turkey.

Pide is the traditional flat bread. It's almost like a plain naan bread but it tastes much more moist. Teamed with some great mozarella cheese and garlic sausage it made for a great snack. And at only £6 for the meal I'd say it's a bargain compared to what you would pay in most restaurants.

My only regret is that I didn't have a traditional sage tea to wash it down. Maybe next time
